Grandparents Day is September 11th
National Grandparents Day was started by Marian McQuade, in an attempt to help lonely elderly in nursing homes. Also, to encourage children to glean the wisdom of their grandparents. In 1978 Jimmy Carter declared the holiday be celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day.
